Mark Mandell has served as President of Square One Development since 1980, leveraging his comprehensive experience in real estate transactional law, development, and management.

Mark’s journey began in the 1960s with his family’s business, the Chicago National Wrecking Company, which specialized in commercial building demolition. Transitioning to real estate development in the late 1970s, Mark initially focused on transactional law, covering areas such as acquisition, finance, and entitlements. With a solid foundation in law as an attorney, he then transitioned to managing all aspects of acquisition, development, management, and repositioning of major real estate projects in San Diego. This includes the development and management of over 1,000 residential units and nearly 1,300,000 square feet of mixed-use space, encompassing industrial, retail, office, and hospitality sectors. Mark’s efforts have significantly impacted the development landscape in the region and contributed to the company’s success.

Beyond his executive role, Mark has demonstrated his expertise in banking and finance through his distinguished service on the Board of Directors at San Diego National Bank from 1992 to 2009. His dedication to the community and the industry is further shown by his long-standing commitment to California Western Law School, where he served as a lecturer of Real Property Finance for over a decade in the early 1990s. Mark sat on the California Western Board of Trustees and is a member of the CalPrivate Bank advisory board. Mark brings varied experiences and achievements to benefit Square One Development and ensuring its continued growth and innovation in the real estate sector.
